Many people believe that shaniwar wada fort in pune city is haunted. Let us understand shaniwar wada horror story. Shaniwar wada is a fort in pune, Maharashtra, India. It was built in 1732. It was under peshwas of maratha empire until 1818 after that it was taken by British East India Company.

There was a boy whose name was 'narayanrao'. narayanrao was killed by his uncle 'raghunathrao'.
Remember these two names, the entire story revolves arround them. Narayanrao become peshwa in 1772, at that time there age was just 17 years. Both father and brother of Narayanrao was not alive at that time. Because narayanrao was very small in age, maratha senapatis have made raghunathrao as regent. Raghunathrao was in charge of state from the side of Narayanrao.

Raghunathrao was very interested in becoming peshwa, Raghunathrao was also accused of killing madhavrao (narayanrao's brother). Therefore narayanrao was not so close with raghunathrao. Disagreements soon arrived between young Narayanrao and his uncle Raghunathrao. Anandibai was wife of raghunathrao, anandibai was having desire of becoming queen of state. So anandibai also hated Narayanrao. Narayanrao and raghunathrao was surrounded by advisors. Those advisors was also tried to poison their minds against each other. Therefore narayanrao have kept his uncle raghunathrao under house arrest.
Gardi was working as a guards in shaniwar wada. Gardi was employee's who was working only for money. Uncle Raghunathrao soon find one opportunity, he written one letter to head of gardi and told gardi that he will give gold to them as a reward if they complete the work specified in letter, in that letter he have mentioned "narayanrao la pakada" means capture narayanrao. This letter was pass through anandibai, anandibai have modified the content of letter and written "narayanrao la mara" means kill narayanrao instead of narayanrao la pakada. This letter then received by gardi, gardi thought that raghunathrao have ordered them to kill narayanrao.
Finally the last day of ganesh festival 'anant chaturdashi' arrived. Gardi leave raghunathrao from house arrest. After that summer singh gardi has led a group of gardi's at night. Gardi was entered into narayanrao's chamber with sword's in hand. Narayanrao was sleeping in his chamber. Gardi intialy killed all the personal guards of narayanrao. narayanrao woke up from sleep because of noise. Narayanrao seen gardi's with there swords coming to kill him.
Narayanrao screamed for help but no one was there. After that narayanrao started running through corridor and gardi's was chasing him with there swords. Narayanrao thought that only person who can help them was there uncle Raghunathrao. Hence narayanrao started running towards there uncles section with crying and saying "kaka mala vachava" which means uncle save me. Finally summer singh gardi have killed narayanrao. This entire incident was taken place in half hour. After that body of narayanrao was cutted down into pieces and thrown off into nearby river.
Body of narayanrao was not cremated properly thats why some people believe that ghost of narayanrao still haunted shaniwar wada and the place where there body was thrown off. Some people says that voice of narayanrao can be still heard from shaniwar wada at the night of new moon. This is all shaniwar wada horror story.
