Especially during monsoon. Today we will talk about these beautiful places in maval near pune. Lets see them one by one.
Wadeshwar waterfalls
Wadeshwar waterfalls can only be seen during monsoon. These waterfalls are many times better than the Bhushi dam in lonavala you may have visited. Also this location is not so crowded. Therefore you should visit this place at least once. White water falling from mountains is very satisfying to watch, with beautiful greenery of land. This is a natural location with zero publicity.
Wadeshwar waterfalls are located near kanhe village on old mumbai pune highway. These waterfalls are about 15 km away from kanhe village. You can visit this location by your private vehicle.
Visiting this location using your own car is always good, because this is remote location with very less public transport facility. When you will reach kanhe village on old mumbai pune highway then you have to take a right turn (considering that you are coming from pune). After that you will have to drive straight for about 15 to 16 km.
You can also use public transport. If you are visiting by railway then you should reach at kanhe railway station, local trains are available upto kanhe from pune and lonavala. Then you can find auto from kanhe.

Pawana dam
Pawana dam
Pawana dam is another beautiful place to visit during monsoons near pune. Pawana dam is situated near kamshet village. If you are coming from pune then drive on old mumbai pune highway upto kamshet village. After reaching kamshet you have to take a left turn. Then drive straight for 2 to 3 km and you can see pawana dam at your left side.
This place is close to lonavala. Therefore if you are planning your visit to lonavala then you must visit this place. When you reach here then just park your car and enjoy this beautiful lake full of greenery. Lot's of reach people have constructed there farmhouses here, you can see them while traveling on opposite side of lake.
Camping also available here. You can also see nearby forts such as tung fort, tikona fort, lohagad fort etc. Lot's of people comes here for tracking.
Thokarwadi dam
Thokarwadi dam is situated near kanhe phata village. This a huge lake in maval. It is a must visit place in monsoon. This dam was constructed in 1922, and water of this dam is used for electricity generation.
During monsoon this place becomes full of greenery. Camping is also available here (not in monsoon), if you are coming with your friends then you can enjoy one night camping with those tents and bornfire.
Karla caves
Karla caves are situated near lonavala on old mumbai pune highway. These are budhist caves. Karla caves are about 11 km from lonavala and about 40 to 45 km from pune. You can visit this place by railway. Nearest railway station here is malavali railway station which is well connected from pune and mumbai.
There are total 16 caves here, Most famous cave is chaityagruha. Chaityagruha is a large cave used as a hall by the people's at that time. All these caves are denoted to lord budhha. You can find here a temple of hindu goddess ekvira. Koli people visits this temple regularly.
Paragliding near kamshet
Maval is full of hilly areas and mountains, Therefore it is best suited for paragliding. Kamshet is spot used for paragliding by many tourists. Sahyadri mountains passes through this place. If you like paragliding then you can definitely visit this place. For paragliding much hiking is not required.
Land here is full of geenery, rivers, hills and valleys. You will get unforgettable view of open sky and evening sunset.
Bhaja caves
Bhaja caves is another tourist place near pune. These caves are located near bhaja village about 8 to 10 km away from karla caves on old mumbai pune highway. Architecture of these caves is better as compare to karla caves, also this location is very less crowded.
These are total 22 rock cut caves which was constructed in 2nd century BC. Main cave here is chaityagruha which was used as a pray hall by ancient people. These caves now requires lots of maintenance.
Visapur fort trek
Visapur fort is located near visapur Village in maval. It was build in 1713 to 1720 CE by balaji Vishwanath. It is located close to Malavali railway station. This fort was under maratha empire but letter in 1818 it was captured by Britishers.
This fort is now in ruins but still the greenery of this place is really beautiful. This fort is one of the high altitude place in Maharashtra, therefore most trekers like to visit this place. You can also know about maratha history at this place, if you are really interest in history.
After capturing visapur fort, Britishers have used it to capture lohagad. Visapur fort was close to lohagad fort and at higher altitude, therefore Britishers have used this fort for attacking lonhagad using there canons.
